Sweet Indulgence Weekend

Saturday and Sunday, February 16 & 17NEW!
February has long been the month of romance. Discover the history and mystery of chocolate and Valentine's Day. Indulge in sweet treats and activities celebrating such traditions as hearts, flowers, candles, music, poems and love notes.


Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m. $8 adults, $7 seniors, $5.50 youth.
Naperville Heritage Society members and Season Pass Holders receive free admission.

Saturday, February 16

Noon - Serenitea Tea Cafe and Boutique will be presenting a tea and chocolate pairing. During this 30 minute presentation, visitors will taste fine chocolate paired with specialty teas, while learning about the history of these two taste sensations.

1:00 - Mike Peek, owner of Wayfarer Candle Company, will be giving a presentation on candle making, the history of what candles have been made from and how they have evolved to what his company produces today - hand poured 100% natural soy wax candles. (30 min.)

Sunday, February 17

2:30 - "Cloud 9" a nine-man a cappella group will be performing a selection of romantic songs. (30 min.)

Activities throughout both days

Le Chocolat will be having hot cocoa tasting in the Log House.

The Museum Store will be hosting a "Creating Your Style" jewelry and accessories trunk show and debuting Naper Settlement's new private label candle.

Free chair massages in the Chapel lower level by Advanced Health Care.

The Goddard School will have craft activities in the Meeting House lower level.

Tours of the award-winning Martin Mitchell Mansion, including interesting information about Victorian courting practices and the mystery of the language of the fan.

Hot cocoa will be sampled in the Log House with information about luxury items in Pioneer days.

Print Shop interpretations will include information on the history of Valentine cards and calling cards.

The Copenhagen Schoolhouse visits will include an entertaining quiz on famous romantic literature and the top 10 romantic movies.

The Blacksmith shop will be open for visitors to observe a working blacksmith craft a metal rose and talk about the fascinating history of Valentine's Day.

Old fashioned candy tasting station - The Chicago area has been at the center of the U.S. candy industry, producing such treats as Tootsie Rolls, Atomic Fireballs, Lemonheads, Baby Ruths, Butterfingers, Milk Duds, Snickers, Frango Mints, Cracker Jacks, Pixies and more.
